A bull mastiff has been seized from a Wainuiomata property after an attack on a boy last Friday.
Hutt City Council says some witnesses are still being interviewed.
A final decision is to be made next Tuesday whether the dog's owner will face charges and whether it will be flagged as a dangerous dog.
The boy, aged two-and-a-half years, was bitten on the face.
