3:51 pm on 21 January 2011

A Christchurch woman accused of murdering her newborn baby has made another court appearance.

The 28-year-old has been further remanded and will continue to receive treatment at the Hillmorton mental health hospital.

Her name and all details of the case remain suppressed.

Judge David Saunders says the suppression order may be reviewed at the first pre-trial callover.

Judge Saunders says he is aware of the public interest in who is alleged to have committed such a serious crime, but the woman has a fundamental right to a fair trial.

The woman due to reappear in the Christchurch District Court on 18 February.
