A man is facing charges after an attack involving a samurai sword in the Christchurch suburb of Woolston.
The 40-year-old was arrested following an incident at 5.30am on Friday and has been charged with assault, threatening to kill and resisting arrest.
This incident is the third involving swords or machetes in just over a month.
The first was an attack on a police officer on 11 December in Taihape, and the second on another officer in Hamilton on 26 December.
