NZ Greens 'alarmed' at Australian spy ties with US

The Green Party in New Zealand says it is alarming that Australian spy agencies are working more closely with the United States.

Leaked diplomatic cables, provided to Fairfax newspapers by Wikileaks, reveal that Australia has intensified secret operations with the US and Japan, seeking to obtain sensitive information from China, North Korea and Iran.

The Green Party says New Zealand should stay out of that operation.

Keith Locke MP says the spybase in Waihopai is already being used by the Americans to spy on other Asian governments and does not serve New Zealand's best interests.
