A Korean teenager missing overnight in National Park has been found safe and well. However, an elderly man is still missing from Taumarunui.
The 16-year-old Korean, known as Geonwoo, had been walking on the Taranaki Falls loop track with his family when he went missing at about 4pm on Friday. They last saw him from the bottom of a waterfall at the top of the track.
A 20-strong search and rescue team found him shortly after another tramper sighted him about 200 metres from the Mangatepopo Hut.
The police say he was slightly hypothermic but otherwise well and is being flown by helicopter back to National Park to be reunited with his family.
An elderly Hawke's Bay man has been missing for almost two days, after failing to return home from house sitting in Taumarunui.
Alex Binns was looking after a rural property in Matiere, and left the house on Thursday morning. He should have been back in Hastings three to four hours later.
A police spokesperson, Kim Perks, says his disappearance is completely out of character. She says the owners of the house saw him off with a full tank of petrol.
A helicopter is flying the route the 69-year-old was due to travel, looking for his silver Ford Falcon.
He is European, of fairly solid build with grey hair.
