Online petition begun to save Dunedin building

6:05 am on 25 January 2011

A Dunedin resident has started an online petition aimed at saving a three-storey building in the city that partially collapsed two weeks ago.

David Murray says the 135-year-old building on Rattray Street is of historic, cultural and architectural interest and a business located in its ground floor is important to the area's vitality.

Mr Murray says more than 120 people have put their names to the petition so far.

Rattray Street remains partially closed to traffic as work to stabilise the building continues.

The owner of the building has not commented.
