Police are looking for witnesses to a daytime stabbing outside shops in a Wellington suburb.
A 46-year-old man is in hospital with wounds to his chest and back after being stabbed afternoon in Kilbirnie on Tuesday afternoon.
A 64-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and was to appear in the Wellington District Court on Wednesday
Police say a number of people intervened during the incident, and officers would like to hear from those witnesses.
