Businessman who stole $1.4m jailed

An Auckland businessman who stole more than $1.4 million from his employer over six years has been jailed.

Martyn Tewsley Scott, 51, was the general manager of security equipment supplier National Fire and Security Limited, based in Auckland.

Scott used his position in the company to transfer money into his own account and pay personal bills.

He pleaded guilty to seven representative charges of accessing a computer for dishonest purposed laid by the Serious Fraud Office.

Scott was jailed for three years and three months on the charges and has repaid abour half of the money embezzled.
