Police Minister Judith Collins says the Government wants all gangs gone and will not allow an Australian gang to establish a chapter in New Zealand.
Rebels MC is Australia's largest outlaw motorcycle gang. Police say it is trying to set up a North Island base.
The gang has been linked to the methamphetamine trade, extortion and homicide.
Ms Collins says any new gang will not be tolerated and will be met with severe resistance from the police.
She says it is likely the Rebel MC gang would work with other gangs in selling methamphetamine, if it established a chapter here.
