Man charged over car crash death of pregnant woman

An 18-year-old Masterton man has been charged with excess blood alcohol levels causing injury and death, following the death of a pregnant woman.

Ann-Maree Hardiman, 42, and her unborn child were killed when her car was struck by an oncoming vehicle on 13 November 2010.

Police say Ms Hardiman was driving home to Levin from a concert in Palmerston North with a female friend.

As she drove through Opiki, about midnight, her car was hit by another vehicle.

The 18-year-old driver has been charged with excess blood alcohol levels causing injury and death.

The driver and Ms Hardiman's passenger were injured in the crash.
