Police have charged a man with murdering his step-uncle in what they say was a ferocious attack.
Patrick Young, 42, was arrested in Manurewa on Friday night after spending more than a week on the run.
Mr Young is accused of beating Aran Jenkanying to death and attacking his step-mother Arunee Jenkanying at a house in Otara on 26 January.
Mr Jenkanying, 56, died in Auckland Hospital four days later.
Ana Edmonds, 28, who is suspected of helping Mr Young evade police has been with being an accessory after the fact.
They will appear in the Manukau District Court on Saturday.
