Waitangi Day festivities in Auckland include a concert and an offical welcome to new Mayor Len Brown.
The day will start with a powhiri, featuring a Ngati Kahungungu waka, at Okahu Bay.
Later, the bands Herbs and Katchafire will feature in a free concert sponsored by Ngati Whatua o Orakei and Auckland Council.
Trust board chairman Grant Hawke said the hapu was looking forward to greeting Mr Brown.
He said the tangata whenua want to cement their relationship with the new mayor.
Mr Brown says he felt priviliged to be there and the welcome was humbling.
