Rugby World Cup 2011 Ltd says an Australian company which won the contract for the opening and closing ceremonies was chosen for its proven ability.
David Aitkins Enterprises has been confirmed as executive producer for the events.
Tournament chief executive Martin Snedden says the company has major experience with opening and closing ceremonies at the Vancouver Winter Olympics and the Shanghai World Expo.
The company was also involved in the running of the Sydney Olympics.
Mr Snedden says it was a fair and open tender process.
But an unsuccessful bidder, Joe Bleakley, questions whether the Australian company will properly represent New Zealand on the world stage.
