Police in Northland are asking for help to identify the body of a man found on Ninety Mile Beach.
Members of the public found the badly-decomposed body about 7km south of the bluff on Sunday afternoon.
Police say the man was 172 centimetres tall, of medium build, with long black hair.
He was wearing faded blue jeans, a red and white checked shirt, and one red and white Adidas running shoe.
Police say the body had been in the water for one to two weeks.
