10:18 pm on 16 February 2011

New Zealand SAS troops have been involved in the aftermath of a suicide bombing of a shopping mall in Afghanistan's capital Kabul.

The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack in which two security guards were killed and two others seriously injured.

New Zealand troops were seen combing the wreckage of the mall by French freelance photographer Philip Poupin.

Mr Poupin told Morning Report the SAS arrived about half an hour after the explosion. He says he saw two groups - one of three soldiers and the other of five or six.

Mr Poupin says the SAS stayed at the scene for about half an hour.
