A mother who left her 13-month-old son to drown in a bath has had her jail sentence cut back by more than half.

The woman, 29, was found guilty of manslaughter in September, for leaving the boy alone in an adult bath for quarter of an hour.

She has permanent name suppression and took her case to the Court of Appeal in November.

Judges ruled on Wednesday that her prison sentence of two years and ten months be reduced to a 15-month term.

The court has based its decision on the woman's good character, her remorse, her earlier offer to plead guilty and an allowance for her mental disorder.
