Ruling in favour of Air New Zealand upheld

The Court of Appeal has ruled against a woman who claimed Air New Zealand discriminated against her by charging her for additional oxygen she needed for medical reasons.

Valerie Smith's original claim to the Human Rights Review Tribunal related to a 1999 flight to Melbourne.

The tribunal found that Air New Zealand couldn't be expected to provide the additional oxygen she needed without charging for it.

The Court of Appeal upheld that decision, saying the airline had acted reasonably.
