Administrators of an Australian company which owns the Whitcoulls bookstore chain have been working in New Zealand over the weekend.
REDGroup, which owns Whitcoulls, Borders and Bennetts, was placed under voluntary administration on Thursday.
The National Distribution Union says it has secured a meeting with the administrators Ferrier Hodgson on Monday morning to discuss the future of its members.
Union general secretary Robert Reid says the administrators have suggested they hope to sell Whitcoulls as a going concern.
Whitcoulls has 65 stores throughout New Zealand.
