A $1 million catamaran being trialled by America's Cup teams in Auckland has flipped during training on Waitemata Harbour.

No one was hurt during the accident and the AC45 class boat was towed back to port on Monday.

The catamaran was being trialled by crew from Swedish team Artemis.

It is the first of a fleet of 10 to be built near Auckland and used for a World Series starting later this year in the run-up to the America's Cup in 2013.
