David Tamihere has serious medical problems

Paroled double-murderer David Tamihere is dealing with serious medical problems and has had to find a new place to live.

Tamihere was freed from prison in November after serving 21 years for the murders of Swedish tourists Heidi Paakkonen and Urban Hoglin in 1989.

A Parole Board decision, released to Radio New Zealand News, says Tamihere is doing very well so far and has not caused police any trouble.

The board says he and his wife have found new accommodation, near whanau, from where he can be electronically monitored.

The ruling keeps secret the details of Tamihere's health problems, except to say they are unforeseen.

The board says it will see him for another progress hearing in May, because of his potential reoffending risk and high public profile.
