The police are interviewing several witnesses after a stabbing an an Auckland tertiary campus.

Police were called to the Unitec's Carrington Road campus in Mt Albert just before 2.30pm on Thursday.

Two men, in their 20s, were taken to Auckland Hospital - one in a critical condition and the other with less serious injuries.

The condition of the more seriously injured man is no longer thought to be life threatening.

Police say the men are believed to have had a dispute with a woman, and followed when she ran away from them.

They say the men were confronted by the woman and her associates in a car park and two vehicles are reported to have left in a hurry afterwards.

Unitec released a short statement on Thursday saying it had been told there was no further risk to staff or students.

It says the stabbing was at the the southern end of the campus and during its Sounds in the Sun orientation event which is open to the public.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Avondale police station.
