Inquiry underway into Otago homicide

6:33 am on 14 March 2011

The scene of a homicide in the Otago town of Roxburgh has been under police guard as officials completed a scene examination.

Lesley Anne Johnson, 60, was found dead at her Smith Street home on Friday and police say it appears she was shot.

Her husband, who was in the house when Mrs Johnson's body was found, is in the intensive care unit at Dunedin Hospital.

Police have declined to name him for legal reasons.

Detective Sergeant Derek Shaw says a positive line of inquiry is being followed, and although no-one has been charged the police are not seeking anyone in connection with the investigation at this stage.
