Couple weathers three earthquakes

A Timaru couple has been struck by three major earthquakes since September.

Brenda Sargent and Dr Brendan Bradley were in Christchurch when the first earthquake struck in September.

They had returned to the city last month to get married when the deadly aftershock hit the city, destroying their wedding venue and trapping Miss Sargent's wedding dress in the CBD.

They are now in Hiroshima, after fleeing Tokyo when the Japanese earthquake hit.

But Miss Sargent's mother, Sandra Sargent, says Dr Bradley is an earthquake engineer and is in his element.

She says their wedding has been rescheduled for next February.
