Wellington's regional council has decided to keep bikes off its new trains at peak times.
The council says bicycles will be banned from peak services travelling on the new Matangi trains, but will continue to be allowed on the old GanzMavag trains.
It has also approved a $50 subsidy for Wellington residents to buy folding cycles that can be taken on any train at any time.
