Detectives are investigating what they believe is a gang-related shooting in Wairarapa.

A man suffered minor injuries after a shotgun pellet was fired in a Carterton house, about 8.30am on Saturday.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, in which they say three Maori men entered a house in High Street.

Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Hansen says the trio later drove their vehicle at one of the women from the house, missing her but damaging the property.

The three suspects left in a red hatchback, headed towards the Carterton township.

Members of the Armed Offenders Squad carried out searches at three addresses on Saturday evening.

One person was arrested on outstanding warrants and was to appear in the Masterton District Court on Monday.
