The Department of Corrections has confirmed that double-murderer Mark Lundy has been receiving medical treatment outside prison in the past 12 months.
Lundy is serving a life sentence of at least 20 years in a Manawatu prison for the killing of his wife and daughter.
The department will not detail the treatment or how often he is receiving it, citing patient privacy.
Acting general manager of prison services Bridget White says the law does not require that victims are notified if the offender is ill or on temporary removal.
