Food imports from Japan being monitored

3:28 pm on 25 March 2011

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is monitoring food imports from Japan to ensure there's no radiation contamination from damaged nuclear power stations.

But MAF says so far it has not identified any food imports from Japan that present a health risk.

New Zealand imports very little food from Japan.

It's limited to small amounts of specialty products such as seaweed, sake, sauces, noodles and pickles.
