Generator problem fixed at hospitals

New Zealand's biggest hospital says it has solved problems that led to the failure of its back-up power generators last week.

Auckland City Hospital says after a new round of tests on Monday morning it is confident the generators will start up should the mains electricity supply fail.

Routine testing last Thursday found a fault in equipment that is supposed to start the generators automatically.

Staff had to sit with generators at the Auckland City and adjacent Starship children's hospitals during the weekend in case they had to be started manually.
