Secrecy at Auckland agencies to come under scrutiny

8:12 am on 4 April 2011

Commercial agencies created to deliver much of the work of the Auckland Council are to be scrutinised more closely over the level of secrecy behind which some of them work.

The Automobile Association has complained to the Mayor's office about the practice at Auckland Transport.

Mayor Len Brown promised the agencies would be transparent and says he will take up what he believes it is a settling-in issue for the new directors.

He meets the chairmen of the agencies on a monthly basis and says there is a regular review of their performance.
