No charges to be laid over toddler's death

Police will not charge anyone over the death of a toddler from severe head injuries 18 months ago.

Hail-Sage McClutchie, 22 months old, died in Waikato Hospital in September 2009 after being brought by ambulance from a house in Morrinsville.

Child, Youth and Family had previously taken her two siblings into care.

The case was treated as a homicide but police now say they have not found enough evidence to suggest criminal offending caused the girl's death.

The district's crime services manager, Detective Inspector Chris Page, says the toddler's family have been very cooperative and the case has been referred to the coroner for an inquest.
