A man attacked in his home in front of his young son by three masked men has been released from hospital.
The Armed Offenders Squad was sent to the Invercargill suburb of Glengarry shortly after 8pm on Wednesday.
Police say the three offenders were armed and assaulted the man when he answered a knock on the door.
The 49-year-old was taken to Southland Hospital with head and facial injuries and has been able to speak to police.
Police say the boy was not hurt, but is extremely traumatised.
Officers are still looking for the three men.
