The parents of the man accused of murdering Feilding farmer Scott Guy say they are confused and bewildered following their son's arrest.

Mr Guy's brother-in-law, Ewen MacDonald, was remanded in custody on Friday after appearing in court in Palmerston North.

Marlene and Kerry MacDonald say they are giving their full support to their son and have emotions of love, sorrow and guilt.

They say the Guy and MacDonald families are very close and are supporting each other.

Mr MacDonald, 30, is married to Mr Guy's sister Anna. He ran the family farm with Mr Guy, 31, who was found shot dead on the driveway of his home on 8 July last year.

He also faces six other charges. Defence lawyer Greg King told the court his client denies any involvement.
