A Whitianga man is in Taupo hospital after an injury ended a hunting trip in the Kaimanawa Forest Park.
Police say the man's brother walked out of the bush and called for help at about 1pm on Monday.
The man, 70, slipped and injured his hip while they were walking between camps.
A rescue team, along with police and St John Ambulance paramedics, airlifted him to Taupo.
Police say the brothers entered the park on Saturday, intending to hunt until next Sunday, but had spent only two nights in the bush when the accident happened.
