Ford driver Shane van Gisbergen has become the first New Zealander to win the Hamilton-400 Super V8 race.
Van Gisbergen, 21, beat the Holden driver, Lee Holdsworth, by about a second in the 200-kilometre race on the Hamilton city circuit on Sunday afternoon.
He says as the 59-lap race progressed he had some nervous moments and he had to just focus on getting the laps down.
