Need seen for new generation to carry Anzac Day forward

A group of Auckland retailers says community groups will need to help run Anzac Day services as Returned & Services Association branches grapple with funding woes.

The Newmarket Business Association says RSAs are being forced to re-prioritise as membership and funding drops.

The association says it needs to be recognised that the work of RSAs cannot continue indefinitely.

General manager Ashley Church says a new generation needs to help carry Anzac Day forward.

He says the RSA is an aging organisation whose membership is dying off and there are continuing funding issues.

Mr Church says it does a fantastic job, but branches don't have the resources they once did.
