Another Supreme Court application over police raids

8:55 pm on 19 April 2011

Seven of those charged following police raids in 2007 are seeking a hearing in the Supreme Court over the issue of whether their trial should be held before a judge and jury, or a judge sitting alone.

The accused face a variety of charges under the Arms Act.

No date has yet been set for the Supreme Court to hear their application for leave to appeal.

An earlier application for a Supreme Court hearing was successful and that matter, which relates to evidence to be presented at the trial, will be heard in Auckland in May.
