Police have charged two men with lighting a fire at the new office of the Ministry of Fisheries in Kaikoura at 2.30am on Wednesday.
Two offices were badly damaged by the fire.
Police say witnesses saw two people leaving the scene and a police dog was able to track a scent from the scene to a house where two men were arrested.
