Lobby group wants charges dropped

4:35 pm on 23 April 2011

Lobby group Family First says police should drop charges against a man whose three-year-old son drowned when a parked vehicle rolled into Lake Dunstan in Central Otago.

Aarush Macwan's father has been charged with careless driving causing death and is to appear in court on Wednesday.

National Director of Family First, Bob McCoskrie, says whether it was an act of stupidity, neglect, or unfortunate circumstance, Mr Macwan has received a life sentence with the death of his son.

Family First is calling on the police to use their discretion and to drop the charges.
