The Easter road toll is five after a man died in a crash in the Taranaki town of Eltham on Sunday night. Another was seriously hurt.
Police say the car left the road and smashed into some trees.
The driver, 19, from Waitara died, and his passenger, 21, from Eltham, has serious injuries.
Their vehicle was found at 9pm.
Twelve people died on the roads during Easter last year, the highest toll since 1992.
