Easter road toll ends on five

12:00 pm on 27 April 2011

The Easter holiday period ended at 6am with the police saying five people died on the roads this year, seven fewer than last year.

Two of the deaths were in Wellington, and the others were in North Otago, Taranaki and the Wairoa district.

Superintendent Paula Rose says reducing the speeding tolerance played a big part in bringing down the number of crashes.
