The husband of a woman burnt to death near Huntly in January will fight a charge of murder.

Diwesh Sharma, 29, who is accused of killing Ranjeeta Sharma, 28, made another appearance in the Hamilton District Court on Thursday.

His lawyer, Roger Laybourne, indicated to the court that his client would plead not guilty to the charge.

Mr Sharma is also charged with assault with a blunt instrument and a breach of bail, charges laid before Mrs Sharma's death.

His lawyer says Mr Sharma will also plead not guilty to those charges.

The defendant will appear again in court next month.
