NZ hosting Pacific counter-terrorism exercise

A Pacific counter-terrorism exercise is being held in New Zealand this week.

Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully says police, legal experts and senior officials from 14 Pacific Island nations will take part in Exercise Ready Pasifika being held in Auckland.

Mr McCully says while there is only a low terror threat to the Pacific region, nowhere can be considered completely immune.

For the past five years, New Zealand has taken a lead role in helping Pacific countries meet their counter-terrorism obligations, he says.
