Radio NZ Concert sponsorship ruled out

Radio New Zealand's board has ruled out seeking sponsorship for its Concert programme, but is considering establishing a trust to raise money from the public.

Chairperson Richard Griffin told Parliament's Commerce Select Committee the only plan the board has for raising money is to sell two grand pianos and set up the trust.

He said the trust would not be used to raise money for Radio New Zealand National.

He said the Government's freeze on any funding increases has made it difficult, but the broadcaster can survive for the next two years on the same amount of money.
