Hundreds of people lined Queen Street in central Auckland on Friday to celebrate an historic victory by the Breakers basketball team.
The Breakers became the first New Zealand team in any code to win an Australian sporting competition when they beat the Cairns Taipans 71-53 in the final of the Australian National Basketball League on 29 April.
Forward Thomas Abercrombie said it was gratifying to see so many people acknowledge what the team achieved.
Abercrombie says it was also a chance for the Breakers to celebrate with people who had supported the team all year.
The parade began at bottom of Queen Street at Britomart at 12pm and ended about 12.30pm at Aotea Square.
