A jury in Nelson has found a former well-known figure guilty of three charges of indecently assaulting a girl.
The Crown said the man indecently assaulted the girl in the living room of a Nelson house and then twice more in her bedroom in December 2009.
The jury in the Nelson District Court took 14 hours to return its verdicts. When it did on Friday, the defence lawyer took the unusual step of asking each juror to individually affirm them.
Judge Mike Behrens permanently suppressed the man's name in order to protect the girl's identity.
The man has been remanded on bail for sentence on 16 June.
