Two men have been arrested in separate incidents involving the Armed Offenders Squad on small islands near Stewart Island.
Police say the squad was sent to Potted Head on Big South Cape Island after a 27-year-old-man allegedly made threats against some residents on Friday morning.
The man was arrested and returned to Invercargill for assessment by a mental health team.
The Armed Offenders Squad were again deployed in the afternoon to Green Island off Ruapuki Island after a 56-year-old man allegedly assaulted another man and shot at a seal.
The man will appear in the Invercargill District Court on Saturday.
