A duck-hunter has been arrested after allegedly presenting a double barrelled shotgun during an argument in a bar in Gore on Saturday night, sending patrons fleeing from the bar.

Police say the man and some associates had been duck shooting and drinking before they arrived at Traffers bar.

They say there was an argument with a man in the bar and the offender is alleged to have presented the shotgun, sending patrons fleeing in all directions.

No shots were fired but the Invercargill Armed Offenders Squad was deployed and the man was later arrested at a Gore address.

Police say several firearms were seized, including a loaded double barrel shotgun.

A 24-year-old man is in police custody and will appear in the Invercargill District Court on Monday.
