Two students from two Auckland schools have been suspended from the game after an on-field rugby brawl.

It happened in a match between Auckland Grammar and Tangaroa College at the weekend.

It was the the first round of school First XV rugby and the game had to be called off early.

An Auckland Rugby Union disciplinary committee met on Tuesday night and issued the suspensions.

An Auckland Grammar student has a three week suspension and a Tangaroa College student two weeks.

Both sides had two competition points taken away.

The schools now have seven days to appeal against the decision if they wish.

Students from Auckland Grammar were suspended after a separate brawl with Kelston Boys High in 2009.
