Vodafone says the fault that affected mobile customers in the lower North Island has been fixed.
The fault affected 2G and 3G customers, who experienced degraded coverage or loss of coverage from about 1pm on Friday.
The Vodafone website says the areas affected were: Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Wanganui, Feilding, Hunterville, Marton and Otaki.
A spokesperson says the fault was caused by a damaged fibre cable and was repaired by Friday evening.
Telecom customers in the North Island had temporary problems making calls on Thursday due to a software fault with the XT mobile network.
