A train has been evacuated near Wellington due to a fire.
KiwiRail says the heater fire broke out on the service to Taita just before 6pm on Friday.
A spokesperson says the train was halted at the Petone train station and passengers were evacuated.
The Fire Service has been at the scene.
Passengers were picked up by the following service.
